A 35-year-old Ridgetown man has been charged after Chatham-Kent police responded to complaint Saturday involving the theft of a bottle of alcohol.

Police said the accused then walked towards a residence on Harold Street in Ridgetown and allegedly threw a shop vacuum at a vehicle.

The accused also continued towards a building on Cecil Street where he allegedly damaged a scooter and window, police said.

The man was located and taken into custody and charged with theft and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000 along with two counts of mischief under $5,000, police said.

He was released with a Sept. 26 short date.

Blenheim man facing impaired driving charge

A 60-year-old Blenheim man was charged after Chatham-Kent police responded to a possible impaired driver in the area of ​​Richmond Street in Chatham Saturday night.

Officers located the vehicle and through investigation believed the accused was driving while under the influence of alcohol.

The accused was arrested and taken to police headquarters for breath tests resulting in him being charged with having a blood-alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit, police said.

He was released with a Sept. 12 short date.
