Ride Norfolk now an ‘on-demand’ service

Local transit operations get boost from gas tax program

Ride Norfolk switched to an “on-demand” from a “fixed route” model on Monday.

Under the new on-demand model, residents can request a ride through a mobile app, website or over the phone by selecting a pick-up and drop-off destination.

The service is provided on a first-come, first-served basis and users can pay for with debit or credit on the Blaise Transit App and with cash or tickets onboard. Wrinkles can be booked 45 minutes to seven days in advance.

To book a ride download the Blaise Transit App on the Apple App Store or Google Play, or by calling customer service at 1-888-465-083.

Meanwhile, Ride Norfolk has also implemented other changes which came into effect July 17:

  • The service is offered Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 6 pm
  • Routes to Port Rowan will continue to be offered on Tuesdays only.
  • Bus service will no longer be available in Courtland and Langton.
  • Routes on Tuesdays and Fridays to Delhi will connect with Tillsonburg’s T:GO Transit Service.
  • 16 new stops have been added in the Simcoe area including Hillcrest and Renton. All stops can be found at norfolkcounty.ca/RideNorfolkApp.
  • The Brantford route will continue to be offered on a fixed schedule with two trips per day that depart from the Simcoe Library at 9:15 am and 3:20 pm However, the 1:15 pm route is no longer being offered.
