After a two-year hiatus, visitors can now meet again at Jokkmokk’s market, which has been organized digitally for the past two years. The market is a tradition that has run for 418 years. Every winter it gathers hundreds of sellers and even more visitors to Jokkmokk and the surrounding area.
Two who appreciate the market are Rickard and Risten. They found love in each other in 2011 during the market days in Jokkmokk. Something they are not alone in. Because the market is surrounded by a romantic mystique – and is actually little known for attracting more than just the market’s attractions.
– People come from all over Sápmi and the whole world, so it will be a meeting place. It’s the tinder of the old days, says Rickard.
