Richard Jomshof (SD) defends criticized post about Islam

The opposition parties have demanded that Richard Jomshof resign as chairman of the justice committee after a post on X, formerly Twitter, where he called the prophet Muhammad a “mass murderer” and a “slave trader”, among other things.

A ridiculous action, according to Jomshof, who on Monday evening commented on the debate for the first time in traditional media:

– As chairman, I think you should be scrutinized for the role you have as chairman and how you carry out that work, he says to TV4.

Criticism has also come from Labor Market and Integration Minister Johan Pehrson (L) who says it is “deeply inappropriate” but that the Liberals will not vote to replace Jomshof.

“No one who can point out factual errors”

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson commented on the entry in Agenda and said that everyone, including Jomshof, should think about how they speak, and that he is “critical of people who take advantage of a situation and spread hatred that is dangerous for Sweden”.

Jomshof does not agree that the security situation would be jeopardized because of the views of an individual Member of Parliament. He emphasizes that he does not regret anything he wrote and believes that he was only defending freedom of expression.

– There is no one who can point out factual errors in what I say. I find that interesting, because what I say is true.
