Ria Öling and Joanna Tynnilä in a tough spot in the Champions League – both face teams from the top of the world

Ria Oling and Joanna Tynnila in a tough spot in

FC Rosengård is one of Sweden’s most successful football clubs with 12 championships, but the last few months have been difficult for the club.

In the Damallsvenskan, which ended at the weekend, the club finished seventh, which is the worst performance in the team’s history.

– The beginning of the season was difficult, there was a change of coach and other things. We got a little involved, but never properly. We have been able to play good periods, but for a long time there hasn’t been a whole good match, representing Rosengård Ria Öling stated under Helmareiden’s October national matches.

– We have good players and a pretty similar team to last season. There is potential, but this year we haven’t managed to utilize it at all.

Öling has celebrated the Swedish championship twice with the club and is used to playing European games with the Swedish giant as well. According to the helm player, the Damallsvenskan season that ended was difficult.

– I myself played in Växjö before, where we were maybe in the same places as now, but no one expected us to be at the top, so it was quite different. Now it has been hard when the expectation is that we win and dominate the games and then the reality has been something else. It would be easier if you knew exactly what the problem is, so it would be easier to fix. But I still don’t really know what the biggest challenge is, why the games have gone the way they have, Öling opened.

Helmaripeluri was tried out in the club team at many different venues during the season.

– At one point I played in the lower midfield and now I have also been able to play in the ten position, but occasionally also as a winger. The role of the winger has also been very nice, especially in those matches where we have been able to attack. Kymppi is still my favorite role.

Öling has represented Rosengård since the 2021 season. He still has a contract with the club for next season.

– Of course, it has been more challenging when we haven’t played so well. It affects how you enjoy yourself, but I still have a good time in Malmö. The trainings have been good and they have had a good level throughout the season.

A refund from the Champions League

Now Rosengård is looking for salvation for his last season under the bench in the Champions League, which starts on Tuesday.

– The Champions League is really important for us, when the season has gone frankly so badly. We have a bit of a new goal for this season, Öling admitted.

In the draw, the team did not have the best possible luck this time either. The team will once again face the reigning Champions League winner FC Barcelona and the Portuguese side Benfica. In addition, Germany’s Frankfurt was drawn into the group.

– Of course, it would have been nice to meet new teams. On the other hand, now that we have the experience of playing against Barcelona, we can hopefully play better against them, Öling reflected.

Last season, Barcelona defeated the team from Malmö 6–0 at home and 4–1 away. The best club team in the world at the moment is starred Atana Bonmatin, Mapi Leon and Alexia Putellas like the Spanish national team stars.

– At home, we were better able to challenge them, at the end they scored a couple more goals, but for a long time it seemed to be 2–1. The last match at Camp Nou felt like playing 90 minutes of rondo, you are in the middle and they were rolling the ball. Hopefully we will now be able to play at the level at which we played at home, so that we could at least challenge them a little, Öling said.

Rosengård will first face Frankfurt, who play in the German Bundesliga. The team goes into the match with broken wings, because According to Sydsvenskan up to six team players can be sidelined for tonight’s match. The Swedish team, which is suffering from injuries, has even had to name a goalkeeper coach to its lineup Shannon Lynn.

Five Finns included

Another Finn who will be in action on Tuesday is Joanna Tynnilä, represented by Brann, will face St Pölten in the evening. For Brann, the place was special, because it is the first time that the Norwegian team plays in the group stage of the Champions League.

In addition to Tynnilä, the Norwegian team is also represented Nanne Ruuskanen, who, however, is sidelined due to injury.

In addition to the Austrian club, the team will face French Lyon and Czech Slavia Prague in the group stage of the Champions League.

– Yes, we were lucky in the draw that we got such gangs, or at least two gangs that we can realistically challenge. Playing against Lyon will certainly be a good experience, Tynnilä was happy.

Like Ria Öling, Joanna Tynnilä will also face a club team from the top of the world, as Lyon has won the Champions League a record eight times.

Tynnilä has to defend by Ada Hegerberg, Kadidiatou Diani and by Eugénie Le Sommer superstars like

– I personally think that you just have to go really open-minded (to the game). I’m not really under any pressure, at least there shouldn’t be when playing. You just have to try to enjoy it, Tynnilä thought.

Lyon leads the French league with a clean sheet after seven matches. The team has been in a real frenzy, because in the last five matches they have played, they have scored no less than 26 goals, and a couple of weeks ago, Paris FC was clearly defeated by a score of 6–1 in the top fight of the series.

Tinja-Riikka Korpelan AS Roma gets into real action on Wednesday, when the Italian team meets Korpela’s former club Bayern Munich. Katariina Kosola Häcken will face the French team Paris FC on the away field.
