(Finance) – Promote the scientific and technological research in the field of integrated mobility through a control room for sustainable, connected, digital and smart development in the field of transport. It is the goal of Scientific Technical Committee of the Academy & Technical Methodologies of the Infrastructure Hub of the FS Italiane Group. The Committee, chaired by the President of the Italian Railway Network Dario Lo Bosco, took office today and saw the participation of the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Edoardo Rixi, the President of the Pontifical Academy of Theology SER Antonio Staglianò, the CEO of the FS Group Luigi Ferraris, RFI CEO Gianpiero Strisciuglio.
The Academy will promote scientific culture, with the aim of promote multidisciplinary synergy at industrial, institutional and academic levels. The initiative involves experts in transport engineering, digital technologies, environmental sustainability and infrastructure management. Furthermore, the Committee of Wise Men will guarantee the optimization of control measures through digital systems and innovative technologies. The RFI and ANAS research laboratories will then be shared with the universities.
L’Academy will have the task of developing new patents for the monitoring of bridges, viaducts and tunnels through the use of advanced technologies such as the terrestrial drone, a cutting-edge instrument, patented in the laboratory of the Bologna San Donato Circuit. The device autonomously inspects the tracks, with a maximum speed of 100 km/h, monitoring the construction site areas in real time.
The Academy’s research and patents certified by the laboratories of RFI and ANAS will be published in quarterly magazine “Quaderni FS Academy”, a point of reference for disseminating the contribution of Italian engineering on the issues of sustainable, intermodal and high-tech mobility, to which are added the economic, environmental and legal aspects connected to the interoperability of networks.
