RFI, new Ferrandina – Matera line: final project approved

For the Jubilee the frequency of regional trains increases

(Finance) – The construction of the new Ferrandina – Matera La Martella line takes an important step forward with the approval of the final project by the Extraordinary Government Commissioner for the opera Vera Fiorani.

The project of the new line will allow to to connect the city of Matera to the national railway infrastructure through an electrified line of 20 kilometers of single track. The Matera La Martella station will be served both by a direct connection with the Ferrandina station and by a connection to the North through the new link road connecting the Battipaglia – Potenza – Metaponto line.

The project will also allow for establish long-distance railway connections between Matera and the high-speed system and to enhance the local public transport offer in the area in terms of frequency and quality.

The overall investment for the construction of thework is worth around 430 million eurosalso financed with PNRRR resources.

All ‘approval of the final project the start of the negotiation procedures will follow in the coming days, thus marking an important milestone in the development of the intervention whose activation is expected by 2026.
