The media workshop is reporting from Issoudun, in the center of France, where the gigantic ALLISS antennas are located, managed by TDF, which broadcast the programs of RFI and other radio stations internationally on short waves, by a set of jumps in the ionosphere.
From the confines of northern Mali, where he was held hostage for nearly two years, the French journalist Olivier Dubois could listen to RFI via short waves. He told it to several media since his release.
The media workshop went to Issoudun-Saint Aoustrille TDF centerwhich since 1950 has been broadcasting radio programs on short waves (OC or SW – short wave), including those of Radio France internationale.
In this report, we hear Denis Morelfuture manager of the Issoudun site, Philippe Ourdouilliemanager of the Issoudun site, and Jerome Hirigoyendirector of development in charge of international radio.
In these interviews, shortwave broadcasting is explained as well as the allocation of frequencies. There is also talk of digital shortwave broadcasting, known as DRM, and the system DRMCastdeveloped by TDF.
