Reveals the unknown drama in the biathlon national team – was forced to a crisis meeting after the coach’s words: “I balled out”

Biathlon coach Jean-Marc Chabloz was adamant after the Swedish fiasco last Saturday.
Afterwards he held a crisis meeting.
– I messed up, he says to Radiosporten.

It was a great success for the Swedish women’s national team in biathlon during Friday’s sprint, when Mona Brorsson took the second podium of her career, and several Swedes scored great results. But when it was the men’s turn on Saturday, things didn’t go as well. In total, the five riders had a total of 15 barriers, and Jean-Marc Chabloz was saddened afterwards.

Called for a crisis meeting

Chabloz has become a bit of a crowd favorite in the context of biathlon, as he is often the one who does interviews on television, where he talks about what the shooting looks like. He is often brutally honest about what his riders do, and he was this time as well, and he did not hold back in his criticism of both the riders and himself after the shooting on Saturday, when he said he was “terribly frustrated and disappointed”.

– It is my worst day on the shooting range in a competition. It’s shit, what I do. That’s how it feels right now. That shouldn’t be able to happen, he told Aftonbladet.

However, Jean-Marc Chabloz’s big sawing of the national biathlon team had consequences. On Saturday evening, hours after the quotes, a crisis meeting was held.

– It was probably the first time I balled out like that, I have to say, he tells Radiosporten about his words after the sprint.

“Probably took it badly”

Chabloz apologized for his harsh words at the crisis meeting held at the national team’s residence.

– Yesterday was a very bad day. For the boys it was a bad day on the mound, and for me it was a bad day as a coach. I kind of overreacted, while I speak my mind. I was very sharp in tone, and should have nuanced myself a little better.

Chabloz believes that the emotions overflowed after Sweden’s most meritorious skaters all shot away within the space of a minute, but that he should have chosen his words better.

– I don’t know if they took offense, but I think probably a little. I felt after the race that I should have been a better coach. I told the guys that too, I wrote first and then I got up and wanted to meet everyone. I wanted to apologize and get some revenge. It was very good afterwards, and immediately afterwards we could hug each other again.
