Retrained Gabriel Gudmundsson: I can contribute offensively

Retrained Gabriel Gudmundsson I can contribute offensively

Votes have been raised for Gabriel Gudmundsson to be selected earlier in the national team. He himself has not thought about it at all, he says after his second training session in the national team jersey at Friends arena.

– I have focused on where I am in everyday life. It has been important for me to focus on where I am today and focus week after week, not so much on the big picture, says the 23-year-old.

Lille was the new league champion when Gabriel Gudmundsson came there a year ago, now the top ten in the French league.

– I think we should be higher up than we ended up in the end. For my own part, I think it has been good to play a part, I have gained a lot of experience from both Ligue 1 and the Champions League, so I take it with me.

Gabriel Gudmundsson was retrained as a left-back during his time in Groningen.

– I am basically an offensive player, but have gone down as a fullback in recent years. So I can add a little in the offensive I think.

Four matches will be played in the Nations League this week and next, and Janne Andersson has announced that he will test a new game system. There is a chance for Gabriel Gudmundsson to get playing time here as well.

– This is the first time I’m here, so I’ll make sure to get to know everyone first, coach and game system, then we’ll see how far it goes.

The national team now seems to change to a 4-3-3 formation, where it still has a four-back line as before. Something that Gabriel Gudmundsson feels comfortable with.

– It’s fun to come to a new team, as it will be, and adapt accordingly. Of course, it is not the same as we have in France, but it is important to adapt as quickly as possible to get the chance to come early.
