Retaliation came from the Tehran administration after Greece seized the ship carrying Iranian oil in the Mediterranean. The Iranian Revolutionary Guards Army announced that it intervened in two oil tankers belonging to Greece in the Persian Gulf.
In a statement made by the Revolutionary Guards Army, it was stated that two oil tankers belonging to Greece underway in the Persian Gulf were detained for violating maritime rules.

According to the semi-official Fars News Agency, one of the tankers “Prudent Warrior” and “Delta Poseidon” was intercepted off the coast of Asuliye and the other off Bender Lenge.
In the statement made by the Iranian Ports and Maritime Authority on May 25, it was announced that an Iranian-flagged ship that took refuge on the Greek coast due to adverse weather conditions and technical problems was detained and the oil carried by the ship was seized at the request of the USA.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also called the Greek Charge d’Affaires in Tehran to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the same day to convey his country’s objections and described the detention of the ship as an “example of international banditry” and declared that Greece would be held responsible for the incident.
The Tehran Charge d’affaires of Switzerland, who carries out the diplomatic missions of the USA in Iran, was also called to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today and stated that the ship and its seized cargo should be released immediately. (AA)
