The main opposition political parties have announced that they will participate in it despite the doubts and tensions that have arisen recently. Patrick Achi therefore opened a new discussion session this Thursday, January 20, 2022.
A little after the resumption of political dialogue on December 16, the exit of prosecutor Richard Adou, implicating several opposition leaders in the violence linked to the controversial election of Alassane Ouatarra for a third term, had caused unease. In a joint statement, the PDCI and the PPA-CI said they were asking questions about “ the sincerity of the political dialogue initiated by the government “.
The representatives of these main parties have however announced that they will take part today in the resumption of the dialogue. This Wednesday, the government also announced that ” no party informed the government of a possible absence “. This morning, the press was not invited to the opening of the discussions, so we will have to wait a little to find out if they were actually around the table: RHDP, FPI, PDCI and PPA-CI in particular.
On the program this Thursday, the presentation of the ToRs retained by the government, in other words the “Reference themes”, or subject of discussion. They are numerous and could lead to a number of deadlocks as the differences are significant between the government and the opposition.
If the opposition parties have not yet communicated with details on these ToRs, it is likely that they will demand in particular an in-depth reform of the Electoral Commission and of the electoral law, or even the adoption of a new Constitution. Anyway, it’s officially Simone Gbagbo’s wish. She announced it yesterday at a press conference. Simone Gbagbo who also regrets not having been invited to the political dialogue, as a representative of her new “Movement for capable generations”.
