Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy met with European Council President Antonio Costa, who came to Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, to hold talks. The parties made statements to the press at the joint press conference they held after the meeting.
“NO COUNTRY CAN WITHSTAND SUCH TERROR”
Stating that his country needs air defense systems and that Russia continues its attacks on the energy infrastructure and the public, Zelenskiy said in the meeting: “Unfortunately, the attacks continue. Last month, the Russian army fired 347 ballistic missiles and more than 2 thousand Iranian-made Shahed unmanned aerial vehicles against Ukraine.” “No country can withstand such terror for a month. We are grateful to everyone who helped us with the air defense system.” he said.
Zelenskiy stated that they also discussed issues such as the situation on the front line and the supply of artillery shells to the Ukrainian army.
REST FROM ZELENSKY: ‘IT CANNOT BE QUESTIONED’
Making evaluations about Ukraine’s participation in NATO, Zelenskiy said, “It is out of the question to invite part of Ukrainian territory to NATO. This means that not only all other lands are in danger, but also the rest of Ukraine is automatically in danger.” .” he said.
Recalling Article 5 of NATO, Zelenskiy said, “Ukraine has never intended to involve the armies of NATO members in this war.” He commented as follows:
Zelenskiy warned that if NATO countries send troops to the war in Ukraine, “half of the allies will reduce their support.”
European Council President Costa noted that the European Union (EU) plans to increase its financial support to Ukraine and said, “This month, we decided to provide 4 billion 200 million euros of additional aid to support Ukraine’s budget. In addition, starting from next month, every month throughout the year.” “We plan to provide 1 billion 500 million euros in aid.” he said.
