The second generation Renault Captur gets a facelift. The small SUV, still in head-to-head competition with the Peugeot 2008, welcomes the latest developments from the diamond brand with the ambition of perpetuating its commercial success.

To remain at the top of the basket, Renault has decided to carry out a major overhaul of its Captur II, particularly marked on the front of the vehicle, which also retains its thermal and hybrid engines without giving in to the sirens of all-electric. What’s new in the restyled Renault Captur
- Renault has carried out a thorough redesign of the front of its urban SUV, unlike the almost unchanged rear. The face of the second generation Captur will now look like two drops of water to that of the new Scenic, adopting the manufacturer’s latest lighting signature and a much thinner grille within which the modernized logo of the brand is integrated into the diamond.
- The grille filled with small parallelograms becomes rectilinear and blends with the color of the bodywork. It overcomes a new, stretched air intake located just above a more massive shield. The main air intake, under the shield, is much more prominent than on the old version of the crossover.
- Like all recently updated Renault models, the Captur is equipped with the brand’s new lighting signature. No more C-shaped front lights for much thinner and full LED optical units on all finishes. The daytime running lights, more vertical, form half-diamonds which descend along the shield, again like on the latest version of the Scenic.
- Inside the 4m23 and 1m78 wide SUV (unchanged size), the most striking new feature is on the dashboard, at the level of the central screen. Formerly 7 or 9.3 inches, the touch screen increases to 10.4 inches and integrates a more modern multimedia system, OpenR Link with integrated Google (Google Maps, Google Assistant, etc.), which replaces Easy Link depending on the version. It is notably compatible with Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
- The Esprit Alpine finish, already available on many models of the diamond brand, is arriving on the Captur. It joins the Evolution and Techno finishes at the top of the range and is distinguished by its sportier style. Among the equipment offered as standard on the Esprit Alpine finish, we find in particular new diamond-cut rims which will enhance the 19-inch wheels, specific upholstery, logos on the wings, glossy black window surrounds and gray front and rear skis. mast.
The engines of the restyled Renault Captur
Unlike its best enemy, the Peugeot 2008, available 100% electric since its last update last year, the Renault Captur of 2024 will not offer a version exclusively powered by watts. The manufacturer wishes to maintain several alternatives for its customers after the recent releases of the Megane E-Tech and Scenic E-Tech. The small SUV will therefore always offer hybrid and thermal engines, including the 1.0 TCe 100 gasoline-LPG dual-fuel engine.
Three gasoline engines remain in the catalog, with a power of 90, 140 and 160 horsepower respectively, micro-hybrid for the last two. Finally, the 145 horsepower full hybrid engine, with its 92 horsepower 1.6 liter gasoline engine associated with two electric motors of 36 kW (49 hp) and 15 kW (20 hp), still powers the most electrified version of the Captur. Note that several versions of the three-cylinder 1.2 turbo micro-hybrid 48 V baptized on the Renault Austral will gradually replace the current engines.
When will the new Renault Captur be released?
If its presentation was postponed from December to March, the opening of orders for the restyled SUV will directly follow its presentation since it is scheduled for April 9. The first deliveries to dealerships of the new version of the Captur, assembled in Spain near Valladolid, are expected just before summer, normally during the month of June.
What price for the restyled Renault Captur?
Renault has not communicated on the prices of its new Captur but they will be known very soon with the opening of orders. In all likelihood, its floor price should not vary much, although a small increase is expected. Accessible from 25,800 euros before restyling, the small revamped crossover should have an entry price of between 26,000 and 27,00 euros. This is roughly the price of the Peugeot 2008 in its new 2023 version, the entry-level model of which sells for 26,400 euros.
