The fire started in the basement of the corner building, probably because of an overheated computer. “It must have been so hot here,” says Bellwinkel as he points out how much damage there is in the downstairs area. All the walls, floors and ceilings are black. It stinks, pipes have burst, there is a layer of (black) water and walls have collapsed. “It remains bizarre to walk here.”
