Man’s disappearance now a homicide investigation

Police say the search for a missing Brantford man is now a homicide investigation.

Brayden Ferrall’s body was found in Brant County on May 3 but only identified on Wednesday, according to Brantford police.

The 22-year-old was reported missing in February.

His death has left family and friends devastated.

“There are no words to express how broken I am losing you,” Ferrall’s mother, Emma Morrison of Guelph, posted on social media. “You are so loved and missed each and every day.

“Rest easy my sweet boy.”

Earlier social media posts show photos of Ferrall next to his younger brother and sister at the last family dinners they enjoyed together prior to his disappearance.

Ferrall was reported missing on Feb. 22. He last contacted his mother by way of a text message on Feb. 18.

Brantford police issued a public appeal for information about the man’s whereabouts on Feb. 23.

On March 28, police said they suspected foul play in Ferrall’s disappearance.

On Wednesday, police announced a post-mortem by the Office of the Coroner identified as Ferrall the body discovered May 3 in the area of ​​Campbell Road and Old Onondaga Road East.

“At the time of the discovery, police were unable to positively identify the deceased or determine the cause of death prior to the completion of a post-mortem examination,” said police spokesperson Robin Matthews-Osmond,

Police said the post-mortem indicated that Ferrall is the victim of a homicide.

Police have released no details around the nature of the homicide, but said they believe the killing is not a random incident.

Police said they are working to provide support to Ferrall’s family.

“During the missing person investigation, we have seen an outpouring of concern from many of Brayden’s friends and would like to remind those who may need assistance to contact Victim Services of Brant, as they can provide immediate support,” said Det. const. Morrison said in an earlier interview that her son, who went to Paris District High School, struggled with mental health problems, including anxiety.

Friends took to social media to express their condolences.

“I can’t stop crying, I’m broken,” wrote Jasmine Frazee Carr.

“It hurts so bad,” Nick Allen wrote.

People close to Morrison said she is declining to speak directly to the media.
