Resistance heroine honored with Trui van Lier Speelkwartier in Utrechts

Trui van Lier founded a children’s daycare center in 1940, called Kindjeshaven. Trui, herself a niece of the famous resistance fighter Truus van Lier, and her friend Jet Berdenis van Berlekom managed to keep 150 Jewish children out of the hands of the occupying forces. These were mainly children whose parents had gone into hiding. They were later housed in other hiding places by members of the resistance.
