Resident Evil producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi launches new game studio

Former Resident Evil producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi is opening a new game studio under the umbrella of Chinese publisher and developer NetEase.

Hiroyuki Kobayashi, known for his role as the producer of the Resident Evil series, is opening a new studio under Chinese publisher NetEase. Kobayashi served as executive producer on the original Resident Evil and Resident Evil 4, and as executive producer on Resident Evil 6. Kobayashi, a programmer who also worked at Capcom during the making of the original Resident Evil, says his new venture will “take NetEase further in the gaming space.”

Hiroyuki Kobayashi and NetEase partnership

In recent years, we have started to hear the name of NetEase more and more. Especially after the Diablo Immortal agreement with Blizzard, there are not many players who have not heard his name. The firm has also expanded further this year by acquiring Heavy Rain developer Quantic Dream. NetEase also acquired No More Heroes developer Grasshopper Manufacture.

Although NetEase mostly releases productions in the mobile field, these new acquisitions and growths show that it wants to offer ambitious products to the console and PC game market.

Kobayashi’s new studio will be called GPTRACK50 Studios and will be located in Osaka, Japan. The famous director, who will serve as the company’s president, has made a huge impact in the action and horror game genres for many years. For this reason, we are sure that Resident Evil fans in particular will look forward to future productions from GPTRACK50 Studios.
