Of course, there are pensioners who need to turn over every last penny to cope with the finances. One of them is Lena Renman, who started working as a 16-year-old, but who today doesn’t have much left in her wallet when the rent and other bills are paid.
– I have worked in female-dominated professions and worked part-time. I also had to retire earlier, when my body couldn’t take it, tells Lena Renman whom TV4 Nyheterna meets in the store where she shops in search of the cheapest goods
“Pensioners have never had it better”
All political parties want to give more money to pensions in one way or another. But national economist Johannes Hagen believes that Swedish pensioners on average are doing very well financially and that the image of poor pensioners may be incorrect.
– The pension has become an important election issue and then it is easy to forget that Swedish pensioners in general have never had a better economy than they do now, says Johannes Hagen.
