It was in September last year that Anna Voltaire was infected with the coronavirus. After a few difficult flu-like weeks and heart and breathing problems, she noticed that her memory was not working as it used to. – If someone came and talked to me, I lost myself. I couldn’t remember where I was in the recipe. It didn’t work, she says. We do not know how the memory changes that many experience are connected to covid infections. But now researchers at the Karolinska Institutet have found a clever way to get clues about what happens in the brain, without cutting into real brains. In a lab in a nutrient solution, they have grown brain organoids – in the player above you can see more about the results obtained from the studies.
