US President Donald Trump Recent measures to reduce Ukraine support will improve the position of Russia, says a senior researcher at the Institute for International Affairs Jussi Lassila. He commented on the subject in Wednesday’s A-studio.
The United States has suspended the distribution of intelligence to Ukraine by decision of President Trump. The decision may interfere with Ukraine’s ability to hit the Russian troops. Suspension of intelligence sharing is a continuation of the Trump Administration’s decision to stop military support for Ukraine.
Lassila points out that peace talks are not underway despite Trump’s decisions and rhetoric.
– If we look at Russia’s actions and that actual situation on the front, it has no need to quit. Although the war machine is tuned to the extreme, it has no acute distress like Ukraine.
According to Lassila, Trump is in a hurry, even obsessed, in a quick, peace, allowing Russia to prescribe to the negotiations. Lassila thinks Trump acts as an amplifier in general Vladimir Putin for demands.
-The most influential person in the world is now ejiting views that directly serve Putin’s interests on the Ukraine issue.
