The stone lying in the center of Stonehenge in southern England is likely to have originated in the northeast of Scotland.
In the light of new information, the stone lying on the ground has been transported from Scotland about 700 kilometers to the stone monument, reports BBC. For more than a century, researchers had thought that the stone had been brought much closer from Wales.
The researchers found out by analyzing the materials of the stones. It is not clear how the stone was transported.
The science magazine Nature was the first to report on the study.
