Research more wild animals than expected have bird flu

Utrecht – The bird flu virus is more common among wild animals than previously thought. This is the conclusion of scientists from the universities of Utrecht and Rotterdam. They examined the carcasses of more than 560 wild carnivores. In 2020, less than 1 percent of animals had the virus, in 2021 it was 1.4 percent and last year almost 10 percent. The study is published in the science journal Emerging Microbes & Infections.
