The VRU assumed that the rescue operation would take a long time, but they soon found a method that worked. Hay bales have been placed on the sides of the manure pit. “We have made a kind of slope. This way the animals can get out of the manure pit,” said the spokesperson. The VRU has also had livestock tackles brought in to remove the animals from the pit. “With a little push they can now figure it out. They would like to leave themselves.”
