RER B: users in distress evacuated on the tracks [VIDEO]

RER B users in distress evacuated on the tracks VIDEO

RER B. This Monday, July 18, due to the intrusion of people on the tracks in the Gare du Nord sector, travelers were blocked for hours in the trains and some people were evacuated on the tracks.

[Mis à jour le 18 juillet 2022 à 15h14] This Monday morning, RER B traffic was cut in both directions between Aulnay-sous-Bois and Châtelet Les Halles and on RER D, traffic was cut between Orry-la-Ville-Coye and Paris Lyon station, due to the presence of individuals on the tracks at the Gare du Nord. Following these cuts, travelers were blocked for several hours in the RER tunnels between Paris Gare du Nord and Châtelet-les Halles, requiring the evacuation of some people. This video posted on Twitter testifies to users who descended on the tracks to get out of stationary trains:

On this hot day, some users stuck in the trains for nearly two hours were on the verge of a nervous breakdown. “Almost 2 hours that I am blocked in the train between Stade de France and North Station, oxygen is lacking and people urinate on the train in the presence of everyone”, writes a user stuck in the RER B. “It’s inhuman. I’m on the verge of fainting!”

“We were stuck for about 50 minutes between Châtelet and Gare-du-Nord before the conductor told us to open the doors ourselves and get out of the train. He told us that Châtelet, who was behind us, was the closest station but we walked about 45 minutes before reaching it,” says Charline Moreau, RER B user, to Parisian. “During all this time, we had no information and did not see any SNCF agent. The ground was unstable, we had to light up with our mobile phones, there were people with babies or with suitcases, people who were panicking”. The passenger association Plus de Trains denounced the inefficiency of the RATP and SNCF anti-intrusion system.

This Monday, July 18, traffic has resumed since 2:30 p.m. even if it is still disrupted. “Traffic is very disrupted on the whole line in repercussion of people on the tracks at Gare du Nord” indicates the direction of the RATP.
