After the fatal accident where a soldier died at Kebnekaise, the Swedish Work Environment Agency demands that the Swedish Armed Forces tighten their safety routines, reports PT.se.

The soldier, who was employed by Norrland’s dragoon regiment, K4, died in connection with an exercise in February. He was part of a reconnaissance force that would pave the way for the main force that would follow.

The Work Environment Agency has inspected the work environment work at the regiment and notes that there is a lack of risk assessment for the tasks that the soldier performed.

“You must have routines that ensure that you regularly risk assess all working conditions, including work preparatory to exercises, which are significant for the work environment,” writes the Swedish Work Environment Agency.

The authority can decide on injunctions or bans if the deficiencies and risks are not remedied.
