The work against honor oppression must be intensified in Malmö’s preschools. It is happening after a report from Malmö’s city audit earlier this year that shook things up.

In the subsequent debate, the opposition demanded that Malmö’s municipal board chairman Katrin Stjernfeldt Jammeh (S) resign.

The review highlighted examples of little girls who have to wear full-coverage clothes in the summer heat at preschool and little boys who try to dominate female staff. It also pointed out that staff refrain from reporting concerns because they feel threatened by guardians and relatives.

The pre-school administration must invest in competence development around honor-related violence and oppression, and collaboration with social services will be deepened, according to a press release. The support for staff regarding reports of concern must also be improved.
