The first alarm from the Ica store in Rottne went off shortly after six in the morning on Walpurgis Night. SOS forwarded the alarm to Securitas, but for some reason they did not check whether it was a fire.
Long time before action
Instead, it was when an employee arrived at the scene at seven in the morning that an alarm went off that reached the rescue service.
– It still sounds quite remarkable that it takes so long, says Dan Nyberg who is the task leader at the rescue service, who wrote the incident report.
Different agreements govern
At the same time, Dan Nyberg points out that this does not have to mean that someone has done something wrong. Who is alerted and when they are alerted is regulated by various agreements that property and or shop owners enter into with alarm and security companies.
– In schools, nursing homes and hospitals, for example, there must be automatic alarms that are connected directly to us, but here it is perfectly okay to have it connected to a security company, says Dan Nyberg to SVT Nyheter Småland.
Rejects comments
During the day, SVT sought Securitas to get an explanation for why it looks like they did not go out to the store when they received the alarm. They have not yet given feedback on the matter.
Länsförsäkringar Kronoberg, which now handles the case for store owners, has declined to comment on the individual case.
