“Even if invited to speak at an event, I do not expect to receive free attendance,” Davis said. “I, like all other members of council, pay out of our own pocket when using facilities like the Gretzky Center or attending events at the Sanderson Centre.”

Davis said he, like all other members of council, paid for their own tickets to Brantford Bulldogs games.

The mayor also covered the cost of a visit to Brantford’s twin city of Ostrow Wiekopolski in Poland last year out of his own pocket. He was on vacation at the time and decided to make a side trip to the city.

Meanwhile, council on Tuesday also approved a resolution that will distribute the $12,000 in honorarium he receives as a member of the Grand Bridge Energy Board between Community Resource Service (Brantford Food Bank), Salvation Army, Rosewood House and Why Not Youth Centre. The honorarium he receives as a vice-chair on the Grand River Conservation Authority will be directed to Brant United Way.
