Report: China’s Wind and Solar Power Capacity World’s Largest | News in brief

Report Chinas Wind and Solar Power Capacity Worlds Largest

China is building almost twice as much wind and solar energy capacity as all other countries combined, according to a recent report.

China is building nearly twice as much wind and solar power capacity as all other countries combined, published Thursday recent research point.

China is the world’s second largest economy and the world’s largest emitter of greenhouse gases that accelerate global warming.

However, China is committed to bringing its carbon dioxide emissions under control by 2030 and to zero by 2060.

A total of more than 339 gigawatts of solar panels and wind turbines are currently under construction in China.

According to a study by Global Energy Monitor, it is almost twice as much as the combined wind and solar power capacity of all countries.

According to the report, the figure is significantly higher than that of the second-ranked USA.

According to the report, the United States is currently building more than 40 gigawatts of wind and solar power capacity.

It’s about huge amounts

Stateside there are already more wind turbines 70,000 pieces and their capacity is more than 140,300 megawatts.

For comparison, there were a total of 1,601 operating wind turbines in Finland in 2023, with a capacity of 6,949 megawatts.

According to the report, a third of China’s energy is already produced with renewable energy sources, while the global average is only seven percent.

The report predicts that China’s wind and solar capacity will surpass the capacity of coal power plants already this year.

Coal has traditionally been China’s most important energy source. In May, China produced 53 percent of its electricity using coal. However, the share of electricity produced by coal has been constantly decreasing.
