During the night between Monday and Tuesday, five lampposts were smashed outside the cemetery but it did not stop there. The next night it was time again and this morning, cemetery director Ola Palmberg and his colleagues were able to state that four more lampposts had been smashed – in the same place as the day before. Replacing the lampposts will cost up to SEK 50,000.
– It is a bit sad that cemeteries are not allowed to be at peace and it is pure tax money that will go to replace this, says Ola Palmberg.
Asarum-Ringamåla parish has previously been exposed to burglary in garages twice in the past year where machines have been stolen. Ola Palmberg says that they have previously also been affected by vandalism, but that it has reached new levels this week, which BLT was the first to tell about.
– That a lamppost is broken happens from time to time but certainly not to the extent as now, says Ola Palmberg.
The events of the last few days have been reported to the police by the parish.
