The mosque of Allonnes, located near the French city of Le Mans, in the department of Sarthe, reopened this Friday, January 13. It had been closed for more than a year for Islamist preaching. The new imam’s sermons will now be recorded.
Filming the Imam’s sermons, a desire for transparency displayed by those responsible for the new religious association of the Allonnes mosque.
The administrative authorities reproached the managers of this mosque for remarks made there which incited recourse to armed jihad.
Being the subject of an investigation for apology of terrorism, the place of worship is then closed administratively on October 21, 2021.
The associations that managed the mosque at the time were dissolved in 2022. They are currently replaced by the Allonnaise association for living together and the religious association of Chaoué.
According to Mohamed Zantar, president of these two new organizations in charge of the mosque, the fact of filming the sermons serves to reassure the faithful, but it is also a guarantee of transparency for the practice of secular Islam.
In addition to recording the sermons, the prayers will now be led by a confirmed imam, whereas previously, volunteers from the association were in charge.
