Laxå markets itself with the fact that the residents of the municipality can enjoy the proximity to nature – squares, lakes, and restaurants. And now there is the opportunity to rent an apartment – for just one kroner a month.
But there is a condition for renting. The offer only applies to those who choose to study and at the same time enroll in the location. Roberth Huss is CEO of the municipal housing company Laxåhem.
– This is an education that the municipality has developed together with the business community. The companies need skills that are not available today in the immediate area or in the town. This training package, which is 3–6 months long, has then been developed. During the study period, you can stay with us for 1 kroner.
“Surprisingly rubbish”
But despite the offer, things have not gone as well as he had hoped.
– It is surprisingly sharp.
However, the CEO is still positive about the idea and now hopes to contribute more to the municipality.
– We have vacancies in our apartments and want to use them. If we can get staff to fill the shortage and in that way contribute to more taxpayers in Laxå, then we want it, says Roberth Huss.
