“The Journal de Bridget Jones” is freely inspired by the eponymous novel by Helen Fielding, which is itself a modern adaptation of the very famous “pride and prejudices” by Jane Austen. Faced with the considerable and international success of the film (with in particular more than 3.4 million admissions in France), a sequel was created in 2004, entitled “Bridget Jones: the age of reason”, just like the second part of the novel. There are the same actors there, in the same roles. A third film, entitled “Bridget Jones’s Baby” was released in the course of 2012 and stage a Bridget in the midst of the forties and ready to do anything to have a child, before a fourth episode on February 12, 2025. ..

Renée Zellwegger is today inseparable from her role of clumsy and unhappy thirty -something in love in “Le Journal de Bridget Jones”. And yet, Bridget Jones could have had another face, since the American actress was absolutely not the first choice of production for this role: the director of the feature film, Sharon Maguire, first had Toni Colette in mind in the role. However, the latter refuses the position.

The director of the “Bridget Jones Journal” then plans Kate Winslet For the role, already a huge star since “Titanic”. However, the British actress is deemed too young to embody a thirty -something (she was indeed 26 years old). It was then Renée Zellwegger who is considered and who was able to demonstrate the extent of his ability to make people laugh and move in this role in the face of Hugh Grant and Colin Firth. Fortunately, since Bridget Jones propelled the American actress to the rank of star.

Synopsis – Immerse yourself in the heart of the comico-stately adventures of a thirty-year-old “celibate” in his skin. Her name is Bridget Jones (Renée Zellweger). She is employed in an advertising agency in London, “Pemberley Publishing”, and has four ambitions in life: losing weight, stopping smoking, stopping drinking and, above all, finally finding great love. While his friends, Jude (Shirley Henderson), Shazza (Sally Phillips) and Tom (James Callis), are constantly giving him opinions and advice as unnecessary as desperate, Bridget hesitates between two contenders: his boss, the charming and Sexy Daniel Cleaver (Hugh grant) and Mark Darcy (Colin Firth), an old friend of the family who seemed to him at first glance boring and distant. Bagging, clumsy and full of humor, she recounts her setbacks, sorrows and joys in a diary, filled with her good resolutions.
