Renault Türkiye stated the following exactly on the subject: “With the Presidential Decree published in the Official Gazette before the new year, new regulations were introduced regarding the Special Consumption Tax (SCT) exemption of disabled individuals. Within the scope of these regulations, a requirement of 40 percent domestic production was introduced for automobiles that can benefit from SCT exemption. The upper limit of SCT-exempt vehicles, which was applied as 1 million 561 thousand 255 TL in 2024, was updated to 2 million 290 thousand 200 TL as of January 1, 2025. According to the data of the Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association (ODMD), the share of domestic models in automobile sales was 29 percent in 2024. The relevant regulation aims to encourage domestic production and increase the share of local production. The localization rate, which is achieved by providing the materials, parts and labor used in the production of the automobile from domestic sources, provides an advantage, especially for automobile brands producing in Turkey, with the new regulation.
