Remi Lindholm beat Iivo Niskanen in top skiing got

Remi Lindholm reached the top ten in the World Cup for the first time in his career. The Norwegians grabbed five top places.

Just a week ago, a British skier in Jällivaara Andrew Musgrave partially spoiled the Norwegians’ perfect celebration by wedged between the top six Norwegians and finished fifth in the 10-kilometer free split start race.

On Sunday in Östersund, on the same trip, the Norwegian men now got a full straight into the top five. Harald Östberg Amunsen won, Simen Hegstad Krüger was another Didrik Tönseth third, Iver Tildheim Andersen fourth and Jan Thomas Jenssen fifth.

Musgrave was again the best non-Norwegian, defeating Saturday’s sprint winner Johannes Hösflot Kläbo. He was sixth. The victory was Amundsen’s first of the season.

Among the Finns, the best place was taken by the tenth place finisher Remi Lindholmwho hit Iivo Niskanen by a measly second. 25-year-old Lindholm reached the top ten in the World Cup for the first time in his career.

His gap to Amundsen was one minute and four seconds. Lindholm was able to enjoy quite a bit of luxury on the way. During the race, he received a lot of driving help from Amundsen and Olympic champion Krüger.

– It felt really good. In the final games, it was a fairly even bet. During the race, I didn’t know which positions to ski from. I came to the finish line and watched the interval, so in the end not much happened.

– I overperformed a bit, Lindholm told Viaplay.

Niskanen 12:s

Iivo Niskanen was 12th. He has been in the World Cup once among the three in the intermediate start race contested on free skiing. At the beginning of 2020, he was second in the 15 km intermediate start race.

In Saturday’s traditional sprint, Niskanen skied in a challenging race format for himself in the heats. His skiing also looked good in the first heat.

– There was a lot of pushing in Iivo’s skiing two weeks ago. Now you could see that Iivo’s skiing was clearly sharper. If there was traditional skiing tomorrow, no one would have a piece, Urheilu’s expert Kalle Lassila said Niskanen on Saturday about his condition at the moment.

Iivo Niskanen thought his free skiing was quite good. He tried to take a risk in the race, but it backfired.

– I calculated that I would be happy By Pål Golberg back. However, the first round was a bit slow. I saw him and tried to catch him, but then there was an accident, Niskanen repeated to Viaplay.

The weekend in Östersund was a good general for Niskasen for the World Cup preliminaries in Trondheim next week. The World Skiing Championships will be held in Trondheim in 2025.

– Yesterday felt a little. I believe that skating will be rocked through the Games. You get to the Trondheim skiathlon by having skied more than freestyle, Niskanen referred to the combined race that is skied there.
