US Central Command (CENTCOM) Commander General Michael Erik Kurilla visited Syria. Kurilla met with US soldiers in Syria as well as members of the terrorist organization PKK/YPG.
After Syria, Kurilla visited Baghdad, the capital of Iraq. Kurilla met with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Sudani, Iraqi Chief of General Staff General Abdulemir Rashid Yarallah and Iraqi Deputy Commander of Joint Operations General Qays al-Muhammadawi.
During the meeting, bilateral cooperation, strengthening regional security, the latest developments in Syria and operations against the terrorist organization DAESH in Iraq were discussed. “We remain committed to the permanent defeat of ISIS and to the security of our partners neighboring Syria, including Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Israel,” Kurilla said.
