Underlining that the vaccines applied in Turkey and around the world provide a very effective protection against COVID-19, Infectious Diseases Specialist Assoc. Dr. Elif Hakko said, “COVID-19 can also be transmitted to people who are vaccinated, and people can be contagious without ever getting sick. There is a small possibility that they may become ill themselves. For this reason, it is very important for vaccinated people to continue to comply with personal protection measures until the epidemic is under control.
“THIRD DOSE VACCINE CONDITION”
Stating that the immune response created by the BioNTech vaccine continues for 6 months according to current data, Infectious Diseases Specialist Assoc. Dr. Elif Hakko said, “It seems that people who have 2 doses of BioNTech will need to take the third dose after 6 months, individuals over 65 years of age and patients with immunity will need to take the third dose after 3 months.”
Reminding that there is no harm in vaccinating pregnant women, breastfeeding patients, cancer patients, allergic people and patients with heart disease, Assoc. Dr. Elif Hakko reminded that “The most effective way to protect from COVID-19 and its variants is vaccination”.
VACCINES ARE EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO PREVENT DISEASE AND ADMISSION
Stating that Omicron is more contagious than previous variants, Assoc. Dr. Elif Hakko said, “However, according to the first studies, the symptoms of the disease are milder than the other variants. Although the protection power of the vaccines against the new Omicron variant is not as high as other variants, the effect of being vaccinated in preventing illness and hospitalization is very high.
