Can it keep up with its predecessor?
On Amazon Prime: A fantasy battle between witches and toddlers
Both witch films are based on Roald Dahl’s novel and essentially tell the same story. In the new edition, young Charlie (Jahzir Bruno) has to fend off a conspiracy of witches, who wants to turn him and all the other children into mice.

The remake comes from iconic director Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future) and received average reviews (via Metacritic). In the judgment of many critics it falls behind the original, among other things because of the lack of horror factor and exaggerated effects.
But what tires adult audiences can still captivate their children. At least that’s how it is today for many people Even after 33 years, we haven’t recovered from the Hexen witch original.
