A man named Otto revolves around the embittered widower Otto (Tom Hanks), who lives in Pittsburgh leads a pedantic and sad existence. When the family of Marisol (Mariana Treviño) and Tommy (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) moves in next door, his life receives a new ray of hope.

Marc Forster’s drama shows Tom Hanks in one of his signature roles: a grumpy man from whom new perspectives tease out a long-buried lust for life. When it was released in cinemas at the end of 2022, the film received above-average reviews, in particular praised the emotional effect of the story (via Metacritic). It is a remake of the Swedish film A Man Called Ove.

In addition to Tom Hanks is also to see his son Truman Hanks in front of the camera in A Man Called Otto. He plays a young Otto who woos his future wife in flashbacks.
