Released from custody after fatal fireworks accident

The man in his 30s who is suspected of being behind a fatal fireworks accident in Södertälje on New Year’s Eve has been released from custody.
– The suspicion remains, but we have come further in the investigation and the risk of him being able to influence it is so small that there is no reason for him to be detained, says prosecutor Tobias Kudrén to TT.

The accident occurred at midnight on New Year’s Eve.

A relative of the boy has told Expressen that they were several people who had gathered to watch the fireworks when an explosion occurred from what is said to be a homemade rocket. Fragments are described as having flown in all directions and the 15-year-old is said to have been hit in the head.

The boy was taken to hospital with serious injuries, but his life could not be saved.

Tobias Kudrén does not want to comment on the details of the course of events, but says that they have a good idea of what has happened.

But there is still a lot of investigation to be done.

The man who is suspected of grossly causing the death of another has denied the crime.

He has reported himself, so to speak. Then he left a story, I don’t want to go into what it’s about now, says Tobias Kudrén.
