Wrath of the Lich King Classic release date announced. We’ll reveal when the 2nd expansion of World of Warcraft Classic will be (again).
The big season of waiting has just begun in World of Warcraft – whether in retail or classic. But at least Classic fans can now set a clear date with the wait, because the release date of Wrath of the Lich King Classic has been leaked.
What was leaked? The release date of World of Warcraft is known. Accordingly, it goes back to Nordend on September 26, 2022. Due to the different time zones, this could be the case with us on the night of September 27th – such releases usually take place at 0:00 a.m. German time.
Where did the leak come from? As so often, the leak came directly from Blizzard. They had captioned the official Wrath of the Lich King Classic website with the image promising “The Lich King returns on September 26, 2022.”
The information spread rapidly on the Internet, even if Blizzard changed its own website again after a few hours and removed the graphic.
Blizzard has not responded since then.
Why are so many waiting for WotLK Classic? In the eyes of many fans, Wrath of the Lich King is the best expansion World of Warcraft has ever had. At this point, the game also had the largest player base ever.
Conversely, this also means that many players came into the game with WotLK in the first place and therefore Nordend was their first real experience with WoW. Re-experiencing this experience is appealing to many, especially as WotLK made dungeons and bosses more challenging than they were in Burning Crusade.
Please keep in mind that it could be, at least in theory, that Blizzard will postpone the date again. But since the leak comes from their own website, it seems unlikely. At least keep that possibility in mind.
