The Dutch sprint quartet missed a medal in the 4×400 meter mixed relay at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest last night. Final runner Femke Bol crashed in leading position shortly before the end. After that she crossed the finish line in third place, but she did that without the baton she let go during her fall and had already slid across the finish line. Third place was therefore not valid. It is mandatory to cross the finish line with the baton.
