The Commissioners illustrated the Restart planaimed at restarting the plants, specifying that the program will be developed until the end of June 2026. Acciaierie d’Italia plans to put the plants into operation three blast furnaces installed in the former Ilva of Taranto (1, 2 and 4) in the first quarter of 2026. In detail, work will be carried out in the next few months first on blast furnace 1 and then on 2, carrying out the necessary maintenance.

The Commissioners confirm that they are proceeding with the full compliance with the environmental planas foreseen by the Prime Ministerial Decree of 2017, which establishes the maximum production limit at 8 million tons/year. Furthermore, as already stated, they provided at the beginning of June all the documentary integrations requested by the Ministry of the Environment regarding the operation of the plants and the health impact assessment (Vis) at 6 million tons. Acciaierie d’Italia in AS also confirms the processing of the VIS study at 8 million tonnes/year.

The Commissioners also stressed that the redundancy fund scheme for Acciaierie d’Italia workers in AS will be functional exclusively to the recovery plan. The use of social safety netsin fact, was designed separately from the multi-year industrial plan and provides for a progressive reduction in the number of workers involved (initially equal to 4,700), in line with the progress of the plan until its completion.
