There was a lot of excitement when the Ghostbusters reboot was announced. Primarily because the old guard from the 1980s were no longer in the lead roles. Instead, the new Ghostbusters breathes new life into the cult franchise – and is much better than its reputation. You can see for yourself on TV today.
That’s what Ghostbusters is all about, our fantasy TV tip today
The ghosts are on the loose again in New York. 30 years after the events of that time, four completely new people have to deal with the nasty invasion. This time, Erin Gilbert (Kristen Wiig), Abby Yates (Melissa McCarthy), Jillian Holtzmann (Kate McKinnon) and Patty Tolan (Leslie Jones) follow in the footsteps of the original ghost hunters. They are supported by Kevin (Chris Hemsworth), who at least does his best.
After some initial difficulties and minor ghost encounters, the new ghost hunters then have to deal with a really big fish. A misunderstood caretaker builds machines that can attract ghosts. But it gets even worse: A particularly nasty Ghost can even take possession of people.
The Ghostbusters rebirth is much better than you probably think
Anyone who doesn’t have a general problem with women and change will probably get their money’s worth from this film. Yes, the old generation of ghost hunters has been replaced and no, that doesn’t automatically make the film bad. On the contrary, it is good for the series that four really funny women can let off steam here – and the no less entertaining sidekick Chris Hemsworth.
The spectacle is not only funny, but also exciting and the tricks are beyond reproach. So if you are a light-hearted and highly entertaining evening program is looking for, you will find it here.
Similarly entertaining fantasy fun was streaming on Apple TV, but unfortunately we have bad news for you in this regard: After fans waited 43 years for this fantasy return, it has now been canceled after just one season.
