At the end of January, Andrea Möllerberg was fired from the post as secretary general of the Swedish Football Association. Now it is clear that there will also be no continuation for Fredrik Reinfeldt in the organization.
The nomination committee backs Simon Åström as new chairman and the incumbent chairman Fredrik Reinfeldt therefore withdraws his candidacy.
“I respect the nomination committee’s message. I fulfill my mandate until March 22, when I give a brief speech for the past year. I would like to extend a warm thank you to all the staff and others committed to Swedish football that I have had the privilege to work with. Otherwise, I will not submit any more comments as my role as chairman, ”says Reinfeldt in a statement from the Swedish Football Association.
Simon Åström is chairman of the interest organization Svensk Elitfotboll (SEF).
The former prime minister has spent two years on the post.
