The war which has displaced hundreds of thousands of people throughout Lebanon. In Beirut, hundreds of them have pitched their tent on the Corniche road or in the city squares. Often, entire families receive almost no help and are worried about the arrival of winter.

Martyrs’ Square in Beirut lives up to its name. Since the start of the war, dozens of families have taken up residence there to escape the bombings. “ Would you accept that? I sleep on the ground on a tarpaulin, testifies a 75-year-old woman. No one gave us a mattress or a blanket. We want to have gas for heating. God only knows when we will be able to return home. »

His 14-year-old son adds: “ I don’t have any friends here. We are also missing a mattress and clothes. Even now, at night, I feel cold. I really hope to get home before winter. »
A few centimeters from the road, this man, his wife and their five children have pitched their tent: “ Everyone ignores us, even the state. We are no longer given food. I need a roof. I can’t stay in a tent that’s flying away. With rain, water will infiltrate. I’m afraid of winter and the cold. My children are in t-shirts. »
With no other accommodation options, these families are praying for the war to end and to return to their homes intact before winter.
