The most significant name of the season-opening competition of the athletics GP series already broke the Finnish record of 12.70 in the 100-meter hurdles in his third run of the summer. Reetta Hurske.
Hurske, who celebrated the European indoor track championship last winter, broke his four-year-old record by eight and the old SE time by two hundredths. At the same time, the score limit of 12.78 at the World Championships in Budapest was broken.
Hurske’s time is also the top quotation in Europe this season.
Hurske, who has been concentrating on training lately, was a little surprised that such a hard time was already at this stage of the season. Sports expert Tuomas Raja aprikoi, what a fresh woman from SE can reach even this summer.
– How will it come off during the season, when the top result in Europe was already 12.70, Raja is spinning.
– I have guessed that the final best will be 12.66 this year. I think it will get even better, says Raja.
A wild view on the hurske
Hurske’s high level is also indicated by the fact that after his SE performance he was able to gather himself mentally for the final run. In it, he won with a time of 12.80, which is the third fastest time of the Tampere’s career.
According to Hurske, in the SE run, he hit the fences a bit in the middle. So the best bet is yet to be seen.
The border brings out a wild view.
– This creates such settings that Reetta Hurske can run in the world championships even from the last race place. That would be quite the banger.
No less than two Finnish records have already been set in hurdles this week, because Viivi Lehikoinen on Tuesday in Spain, 54.40 in the 400-meter hurdles. Lehikoinen, who already ran the World Championship line last season, also has the potential to fight for a place in the final race in Budapest.
Remember Finland’s top surfers Annimari Korte ran 12.98 in the heats with a sore hand, but couldn’t run again in the finals.
He was responsible for the stimulating performance Lotta Harala, who was able to run to victory in the heat won by Kortte and clearly under 13 seconds. Harala faltered at the end, but still ran his new record of 13.03.
A former SE woman Nooralotta Nezirin the going was sticky, as his best was 13.17. His best time of the season is 13.04 in May in Jyväskylä.
Kähärä raised expectations of success
Raja raises the night’s success, having set his record in length and fences as well Jessica Kähäränunder 3.40 in the men’s 1,500 meters Joonas Rinne and Santtu Heikkinen11.33 short of her record in the women’s 100 meters Lotta Kemppinen as well as promisingly throwing moukari after difficult years in terms of results Aaron Kankaan (75,74).
The performances of the versatile Kähärä were, along with Hurskee, the best part of the evening.
The multitalent, who previously invested in the high jump, improved his height by 19 centimeters from his record to 647. This is the best result for Finns in more than two years.
Kähärä, who turns 22 this year, also had time to work on the speed fences, where he improved his record twice.
In the final run, he set his latest record of 13.30. However, Kähärä’s main events this season are the long jump and the triple jump.
Kähärä’s season opening was unlucky two weeks ago when he fell in the fences and hurt his knee. However, the young athlete survived the situation with a start.
– It was a really bad contusion injury, from which I have recovered. I have been able to train harder for a week after that. The rest must have helped, Kähärä rejoiced in an interview with Urheilu.
Kähärä’s main goal is the under-23 European Championships held in Espoo in July.
– Kähärä was on fire in two sports. It hints that it is permissible to expect any kind of success from the European championships, Raja believes.
