Kuortanene’s traditional midsummer athletics competitions culminated in a Finnish record when Reetta Hurske timed 12.68 in the 100-meter hurdles. The previous SE time in Hurskee’s name was 12.70.

Hurske, who won the race after the run, revealed in an interview with Urheilu that, based on his training, he expects from himself the best result of the season so far.

– I felt really good on the training ground today. I told the substitute coach there that if today is not the best of the season, I will be really disappointed, Hurske said.

The fast swimmer knew that the best time of the season would also be close to his record, i.e. the Finnish record. Before Midsummer, Hurske’s best time of the season was 12.78, which was run at the European Championships in Rome.

“The end was strong”

Immediately after the run, Hurske had time to watch a replay of his run on the video board. The runner described his record performance as balanced, although according to him, at the beginning of the run, his step rotated in the wrong direction.

– The end was strong today, and I’m satisfied that I didn’t hit anything today.

Saturday’s top time was also enough to break the limit of the Paris Olympics. Before this, Hurskee’s Olympic place was probable based on the ranking points.

– We go to those games where we can get to, Hurske stated when he was asked if the time passed on Saturday will somehow change the summer plans.

Next weekend, Hurske will line up at the Kaleva Games, after which he has a small training session in his plans.

In addition to Hurske, Kuortanei’s third-place finisher also broke the threshold for the Paris Olympics Lotta Haralaat which the clock stopped at 12.74.
