Speed skater Reetta Hurske opened her outdoor track season strongly in the Diamond League competition in Doha. European pole vault champion Wilma Murro and javelin thrower Oliver Helander’s competitions ended short.
Reetta Hurske opened the 100m hurdles outdoor season strongly in the Doha Diamond League. Hurske’s final time was 12.92, with which he finished sixth. Hurskee’s top run suffered a small bump when he hit the fifth fence and lost his balance.
The competition was won by Puerto Rico Jasmine Camacho-Quinn at 12:48. Second was the United States Alaysha Johnson in time 12.66 and his earthlings Nia Ali was third with a time of 12.69.
Wilma Murto only surpassed his opening high of 430 in the Diamond League competition in Doha. He cleared this height with his second jump.
Murto tried three times from height 445, but fell. Thus, he finished in ninth place in the competition, because Great Britain registered for the competition Holly Bradshaw didn’t even compete. The competition was won by the United States Katie Moon with a score of 481. Slovenia’s Tina Sutej was second with a score of 476. This eclipsed her own national record. of the United States Sandy Morris was third with a score of 471.
The ninth place also meant that Murto was left without prize money, as it is only distributed to the eight best in the Diamond League. First place will receive US$10,000, second place will receive US$6,000, and third place will receive US$3,500. Eighth place will be awarded $500.
Also by Oliver Helander the javelin competition ended in a short one. The Finnish thrower’s first three throws were overstepped and the race ended there. The race was won by India Neeraj Chopra, who immediately threw 88.67 with his opening throw. The Czech Republic Jakub Vadlejch was second with a score of 88.63 and Grenada Anderson Peter third with a score of 85.88.
